Detection of gas leaks

Detecting and fixing gas leaks, in the context of potential losses and risks to the health and lives of workers, is a service activity with a high cost-effectiveness factor.

Leak detection service for gas installations

Based on the analysis of the received documentation of the tested installations, we create a schedule of measurements, indicating all points of potential leaks. The inspection is carried out by two trained employees of our company. Thanks to the use of a long-distance parabolic probe with a measuring range of up to 15 m, it is not necessary to build scaffolding for measuring points located in hard-to-reach places, and the examination can be carried out from a safe distance.
The equipment used by Ecol to detect gas leaks using the ultrasonic method is certified and has all the approvals required by law.

Benefits of the inspection of leakage control in gas installations:

Improving Safety – Locating and eliminating a leak of flammable or poisonous gases is key to ensuring the safety of working people and equipment at plants.

Economic benefits – Gas leaks generate huge losses. Industrial practice shows that about 30% of the compressed air produced in industry is lost due to leaking systems1. Pneumatic systems have many advantages, but it should be noted that compressed air is a very expensive form of energy. It is assumed that a unit of energy in the form of compressed air costs 7 times more expensive than a unit of energy in the form of electricity.

Environmental benefits – the reduction of technical gas emissions into the atmosphere, as well as the reduction of energy consumption and associated carbon dioxide and dust emissions into the atmosphere, undoubtedly have a positive impact on the environment.

Leakage control inspection report

After the inspection, the acquired data is processed using dedicated software. As a result of the inspection, post-inspection documentation is created in the form of a leak detection report.
The post-inspection report contains the following data:

  • 1. a summary of all measurement points
  • 2. information on the locations of localized leaks with photo documentation
  • 3. information on the amount of gas lost
  • 4. the possibility of preparing an assessment of the potential for savings

The following is an excerpt from the inspection report on the compressed air system:

Detecting and fixing gas leaks, in the context of potential losses and risks to the health and lives of workers, is a service activity with a high cost-effectiveness factor. Locating leaks by ultrasonic detection, offered by Ecol, makes a real contribution to improving plant operations, counteracting breakdowns and unplanned shutdowns.

Ultrasonic measurement services complement other diagnostic techniques, such as oil analysis, thermal imaging, and vibration measurement, which we use in the implementation of maintenance support services for industrial plants.
