A 100 ml sample is distilled under standardised conditions and thermometer readings and condensate volumes are recorded over time.
interpretation of results:
The fractional composition is used to assess the correctness of fuel behaviour for start-up and nominal engine operating conditions, fuel economy and fuel volatility. Incorrect fractional composition results in improper engine operation and accelerated engine wear.
The required values of the fractional composition of fuels are defined by the regulation of the Minister of Economy on quality requirements for liquid fuels.
