method description:
During the test, the lowest temperature at which the oil demonstrates its ability to flow is determined. The sample is preheated and then cooled from under standardised conditions. The fluidity of the oil is checked every 3°C.
interpretation of results:
Oil undergoing cooling increases its viscosity and density. Determination of the pour point allows the determination of the lower temperature limit at which the oil, while retaining its properties, can be used and perform its function.
