Method description:
The penetration test consists of measuring the depth of immersion of the cone in the grease, after a 5-second gravitational descent. The result of the test is the penetration, measured in 0.1 mm, which defines the consistency class of the grease, defined according to NLGI.
Interpretation of results:
A too rapid/rapid change in lubricant consistency (thickening, dilution) may indicate the use of a thickener incompatible lubricant in relubrication.
