description of the method
The Grease Thief® Analysis apparatus enables a unique test of grease consistency to be performed under dynamic conditions, and is therefore related to actual grease operating conditions. It involves measuring the force used to extrude a sample from the Grease Thief® sampler through a gap in the matrix, over three cycles. Each cycle is characterised by a different speed (slow, fast, slow). In order to calculate the GTS index, it is necessary to have the results of the grease of the reference sample (fresh). During the test, the grease is extruded onto a segmented plastic substrate forming a long thin film (grease ribbon), resulting in a perfectly prepared sample for subsequent tests (concentration and particle characteristics in the grease – grease purity, elements, water content, RULER, FTIR).
