Method description:
The water present in the sample is titrated with iodine. The amount of iodine used to titrate the water present in the sample is converted to the water content.
Interpretation of results:
Measurement of water content by the volumetric method is intended for samples containing a large amount of water. For water-based flame-retardant liquids, the correct water level is the factor that ensures flame-retardancy. Water in other cases is a destructive factor. It causes oil degradation activates corrosion wear processes, hydrogen, can cause cavitation, as a result, significantly shortens the life of lubricated components. The water content of oil should not exceed the limits specified, for the type of oil and its application of the type of equipment.
