Ecol at the European Economic Congress in Katowice

Ecol among the EEC participants

On 22–24 April, the 18th edition of the European Economic Congress took place in Katowice – one of the most important events dedicated to the future of the Polish and European economy. At the International Congress Centre and Spodek, representatives of business, administration, science, and media gathered to discuss the key challenges of the modern world.

Among the participants was Ecol Sp. z o.o., whose representatives actively joined panel discussions and exchanged experiences with industry leaders.

Local content in nuclear energy – the role of Polish industry

One of the key programme highlights was the “Local content in nuclear energy” session, attended by Ecol’s CEO, Wojciech Majka. Ecol was also a partner of this session.

The discussion focused on the potential of Polish companies in the implementation of the nuclear energy programme. Topics included:

• the participation of domestic companies in the design, construction, and maintenance of nuclear power plants,
• opportunities for creating new jobs and developing specialised competencies,
• integration of Polish companies into global supply chains for nuclear energy,
• certification and qualification processes for suppliers,
• the role of the state in building a strong industrial base for the nuclear sector.

The session highlighted the importance of domestic industry in the energy transition and the long-term competitiveness of the Polish economy.

The future of engineering education

On the third day of the congress, Jacek Sadowski also took the stage, participating in the “Vocational education and engineering training” session.

The discussion focused on the future of the labour market in the context of rapid technological transformation, including the growing role of artificial intelligence. The panel highlighted key directions in the development of engineering competencies:

• artificial intelligence as a support tool, not a replacement for knowledge and analytical thinking,
• increasing importance of working in an international environment and knowledge of global standards,
• the need for continuous education and professional development,
• development of hybrid competencies – combining technical, digital, and soft skills.

The importance of cooperation between business and universities was also emphasised, as well as the development of modern education models, such as the dual system, which better prepares future specialists for market realities.

Participation in the European Economic Congress is for Ecol not only an opportunity to present its own experience, but above all a chance to actively engage in the debate on the future of industry, energy, and education.

Thousands of participants, dozens of speakers, and hundreds of substantive discussions make this event one of the most important dates in the economic calendar of Central and Eastern Europe.

For Ecol, it is a valuable time of knowledge exchange, relationship building, and expanding perspectives in the context of a rapidly changing economic environment.

About the European Economic Congress

The 18th European Economic Congress (EEC – European Economic Congress) took place on 22–24 April 2026 at the International Congress Centre and Spodek in Katowice.

It is the largest and most influential meeting of representatives of business, politics, science, and local government in Central Europe. For 18 years, the EEC has remained a forum where ideas and initiatives shaping the direction of economic development in Poland and Europe are born.

Each edition of the congress is three days of debates, meetings, and discussions on the most important challenges of today – focusing on building a competitive, secure, and sustainable economy.

EEC 2026 continued the dialogue between entrepreneurs, public sector leaders, academics, and a young generation of leaders, with a focus on social responsibility, energy and digital transformation, and a new approach to sustainable development.

The European Economic Congress is also an impressive scale of the event: around 1,300 speakers, over 13,500 in-person participants, more than 200 debates, and thousands of conversations and meetings that combine vision with practice.
