The parameter is determined under standardised measuring conditions on a colorimeter by determining the components in the CIElab standard colour space. The DELTA2000 parameter is determined with reference to the colour space of the reference (fresh) grease.
A change from the reference grease may be indicative of oxidation of the grease as a result of operation at high temperatures, a significant load of wear particles or contamination of a different nature, mixing with a different type of grease. A change in colour should be considered as an indication for extended testing.
